This past weekend, the Onna team jet set to Irvine, CA for Women in eDiscovery‘s second annual regional conference. The conference’s agenda was jam-packed with educational sessions covering eDiscovery, artificial intelligence, and professional development. Attendees also engaged in tech demonstrations of AI tools, and finished out the evening at an awesome happy hour. This year’s conference was especially exciting as our very own Head of Customer Success, Nicole Thompson, got the chance to moderate a panel of incredible women in the legal industry: Nicole Guyer, Senior Consultant at Complete Discovery Source, Ashley Allyn, Counsel at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, and Cathy Fetgatter, SVP of Analytics & Managed Review Services at Innovative Discovery LLC. The panel was centered on running pre-litigation investigations as well as analytics tools used to gain quick insight into data.
After engaging in many other sessions and thoughtful discussions, we walked away with some impactful takeaways about the legal industry ecosystem. As more and more key players enter the mix, (i.e. corporate clients, attorneys, service providers, and software vendors) fostering close partnerships is important now more than ever. Especially as ESI, or electronically-stored information, becomes increasingly complex, bridging the knowledge gap between technology and legal procedures is a hot topic. Some advice for corporate clients and attorneys was to find a “geek squad” or an IT consultant for technical guidance. The unity of these two areas could lead to more defensible evidence, and support legal decision making.
We were so happy to take part in such an incredible event like Women In eDiscovery. The day was filled with positive findings, innovative ideas, and above all, incredibly inspiring women. Thanks for having us WiE — We can’t wait for next year!
